Police nab two suspects on drug related offences

Two suspects have found themselves behind bars after an intelligence-driven operation was conducted in Osizweni on May 7.

The first arrest was made after Osizweni crime prevention members raided a house in section B.

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer, a 34-year-old man was found in possession of 10 small parcels of heroin.

The drugs recovered were estimated to have a street value of around R500.

Later, police raided a second home in section B and arrested a 26-year-old suspect for being in possession of 31 small parcels of heroin and 11 full mandrax tablets.

The estimated street value of the drugs was around R2, 700.

“Both suspects have since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession, and police investigations will continue,” she concluded.
