Crime on the rise in Diamana Road?

Residents say they are concerned for their safety

Criminal activities are increasing in Diamana Road… So says Christopher Fobian, who is the chairperson of the area’s Community Policing Forum (CPF).

This comes after a house in Diamana Road was targeted twice in the last week.

The gate motor was stolen on Monday (May 29) and then early this morning (June 2), the property was entered by suspects who broke into a car parked in the yard.

Two unspecified items were stolen from the vehicle.

Police responded to the scene and a case was opened for investigation.

However, the CPF chairperson says he is not happy, because the case was closed shortly afterwards. “How can the SAPS open a case and send you the investigating officer’s details, but then just close the case? What is the point of reporting crime if this kind of thing happens? It doesn’t instill confidence in the police,” says Christopher.
