Badly decomposed toddler’s body found

Police are investigating, but no arrests have yet been made

The body of a toddler was found today (October 30), believed to be two-year-old Lulandwe Kamvelihle ‘Zee’ Qwabe. She has been missing for more than a month.

The child was last seen at home in the Gomba area of Weenen on September 21.

Speaking to the Estcourt News, the little girl’s father confirmed that a body had been found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan commented that, “The badly decomposed body of an infant has been discovered this afternoon in the Gomba area. Information at hand suggests that the body is that of the two-year-old who went missing last month.”

However, the deceased has not yet been officially identified.

Colenso police have opened and are investigating a case of murder.

On the day she went missing, little Lulandwe Qwabe was with her grandmother while her mother was at work. When the mother arrived home, the family suddenly noticed that the child was nowhere to be seen. They searched everywhere, and the community also intervened, but to no avail.
