Police nab three suspects for possession of drugs and stolen goods

A total of three suspects were arrested during an Intelligence Driven Operation conducted in Osizweni this past weekend.

Three men were arrested in separate incidents on charges of drug possession and stolen following a joint SAPS operation in Osizweni.

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer, said the intelligence-driven and multi-disciplinary operation was conducted from April 12-13.

The first arrest was made when police descended on a house in Section (B) after following up on information regarding drugs.

Arumugam said upon their arrival, police arrested one suspect for possession of three full, six halves and one-quarter mandrax tablets.

“The drugs recovered had an estimated street value of about R800,” she said.

Following another tip-off, the operation took police to the East Born Farm area.

” Police arrested one suspect for possession of suspected stolen goods, after recovering a stolen computer screen and a health machine.”

The value of the suspected recovered good was estimated at around R3 000.

A raid in section A Osizweni followed where a suspected drug house was searched.

One man was arrested for the possession of mandrax.

All suspects arrested will appear in court soon, while further investigations continue.
