Suspected heroin dealer to remain behind bars

Local law enforcement helped bring down a suspected heroin dealer during an intelligence driven operation this past week.

A man was arrested and a large quantity of heroin seized following a combined SAPS and security operation.

Newcastle Crime Fighter’s Task Team’s Imran Ghafoor said information was received regarding a suspect who had been arrested for possession and dealing in drugs from his residence. This then led to an intelligence driven operation being conducted.

“We obtained a search warrant after the suspect was released on bail and taken back to his residence in Ncandu Park, which we searched and recovered a large quantity of suspected heroin,” said Ghafoor.

The suspect was rearrested and detained and charged with dealing and possession of drugs.

“Well done to all involved for excellent teamwork.”

Those involved in the operation included Newcastle crime fighter task team, Newcastle VISPOL support, and Winzybee Security.
