Family to take legal action after their child is attacked by pit bulls
The boy sustained bite wounds to his face and body

A five-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after allegedly being attacked by pit bulls in the Wembezi Long Homes area last week.
According to family member Lwanele Mlotshwa, the boy was passing their homestead when the dogs from a neighbour’s yard attacked him. The homeowner was not present at the time; only minors were there.
The child was rushed to hospital; the left side of his body was so badly injured that he couldn’t even open his eyes. He was clearly traumatised because he could not reply when spoken to; he would only move his head. Eventually, during the week, he started getting better in hospital.
Mlotshwa furthermore said that the owner of the pit bulls did not initially visit the child in hospital; he only visited when the incident was posted on social media.
“Even the nurses were wondering why the dog owner didn’t visit the child,” said Mlotshwa.
She confirmed that the child’s mother is taking measures to open a case.
Some community members commented that the owners of these dogs fail to keep them inside their yard and it is shocking that they still have to deal with pit bull incidents when everyone knows how dangerous they are.
