Police gun down cash-in-transit robbers in violent shoot-out
Wanted for multiple cash-in-transit robberies, the suspects opened fire on the officers as they approached.
Two suspected cash-in-transit robbers were fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police at Wasbank, near Ladysmith, this afternoon (May 22). The suspects were wanted for at least six cash-in-transit robberies all over KZN.
Acting on a tip-off, police identified the house where the men were hiding. As officers arrived and announced their presence, the suspects opened fire on them and a shoot-out ensued.
SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said the operation intelligence received regarding suspects wanted in connection with at least six cash-in-transit robberies. The alleged crimes took place in KwaDukuza, Verulam, Nyoni, Greytown, Phoenix, and Langslaagte

Both suspects were shot dead during the exchange of gunfire. One of the men (43) had a warrant of arrest against him for being in possession of explosives and ammunition.
Two firearms were recovered at the scene.
No police officers were injured in the shoot-out.
