Protest action spills onto the N3

Residents protesting poor service delivery, specifically water provision, have obstructed part of a national route, the N3.

Protest action has spilled onto the N3 southbound near Lowlands.

According to the Estcourt emergency center, a total road closure was reported shortly before 20:00.

The R103, near Mimosadale is also closed by protest action.

According to emergency services, burning debris is scattered across the roadway, making it impossible for motorists to pass.

Currently the route to and from Mooi River remains closed.

Law enforcement officers are on scene with the local fire department enroute to the N3.

Residents from the surrounding areas have been without water for about two months and sporadic protest action has followed.
