Partnering for patient support
More than 140 patients benefitted from the generous grocery donation
The Estcourt Hospice Association partnered with the Gift of the Givers Foundation to bring smiles to the faces of their patients recently.
143 patients who receive palliative care from Hospice were identified to receive large food hampers which were distributed on August 30.

The individuals who received the food parcels are permanent Hospice patients with life-limiting / threatening illnesses which include cancer, HIV, TB, etc. Hospice staff provide home-based care that includes pain and symptom control; emotional, spiritual and psycho-social support; and includes their families as well.
Teams from both organisations travelled to six areas in Wembezi, Forderville and Emabhalonini, where the hampers were delivered.

“The recipients were extremely grateful and were in shock when they saw the parcels,” said Gift of the Givers community liaison officer Jaaved Khan.
“Our heartfelt thanks go to the Gift of the Givers for this huge donation. The patients were so grateful and appreciative. “These food parcels will go a long way towards helping them with sustenance for the month and they will be able to take their medication with food and stay compliant and healthy,” said Estcourt Hospice Association CEO Rena Licen.
