Courier helps residents fight overflowing toilets

Mbatha says that these issues have been reported to the relevant departments on numerous occasions, but the matter never seems to receive urgent attention.

Lembe Street resident Edward Mbatha has thanked the Courier for helping to solve his sewage woes. Mbatha says that Lindelane residents have been battling sewer blockages over the past month, and he is one of them. His toilet was overflowing and the smelly water was damaging his property.

The community also reported the matter to their local councillor and were awaiting feedback. That’s when Mbatha made contact with the Courier, which was followed by a swift response from Umzinyathi District Municipality.
Workers were sent to his address and fixed the problem. Mbatha wonders why they can’t be this quick every time.
