Two UDM water tankers burnt

A case of malicious damage to property has been opened and police are investigating.

Two water tanker trucks were discovered on Friday morning after being burned.
This came as a shock, as Umzinyathi residents are still facing a water crisis.
Umzinyathi District Municipality (UDM) Mayor Ngubane commented that, “These water tankers played a big role in helping community members who have water shortages.
“Now, with two burned, it will be difficult to serve everyone in our community.
“This is very bad for our district and whoever burned the water tankers has literally killed us with this terrible act.”
He added that it is unfortunate and shameful that the community still faces so many problems, with so many people out there who are begging to be helped.
“I am very sorry for these actions because it will hamper progress.
“We wish for the investigation to be quick so that the perpetrators are punished.
“We urge our community to co-operate with law enforcement to help find the culprits,” he concluded.
