Uelzen Grade 7s go on memorable tour to Dragon Peaks
24 learners, accompanied by two teachers, set off on a memorable experience to one of the two World Heritage sites our province has on offer to tourists.
It has become a tradition at Uelzen Primary School to end off the year by going on the annual Grade 7 tour.
This tour took place at the ever-popular mountain resort, Dragon Peaks.
24 learners, accompanied by two teachers, set off on a memorable experience to one of the two World Heritage sites our province has on offer to tourists. Although the main objective of the camp was to get learners to know each other, the activities on tour were cleverly designed around setting targets / goals and a plan to achieve them.
The action-packed programme was filled with a variety of activities to suit all the learners – from calm, fun-loving spirit to the more daring, adventurous, adrenaline junkies. Activities included a hike up a steep mountain, a variety of icebreaker type games and of course the unforgettable Via Ferrata cliff abseiling that tested each learner to the limit. The learners must definitely be commended for their enthusiasm and willingness to try new and adventurous activities, all in the name of good, clean fun.
“As their teacher, it was a privilege to observe the Grade 7s outside the classroom, seeing the friendships and growth among our learners. A word that comes to mind to describe the care, kindness, encouragement and support that was shown in such a short time would definitely be ‘camaraderie’. It has been a sheer pleasure being the Grade 7 teacher of 2022!” said their educator.
