Estcourt is ready for major festive events

Stakeholders are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Estcourt during the festive season

The state of readiness to host upcoming events and also welcome visitors with open arms was discussed in the local Tourism Forum meeting on Wednesday last week.

Held at Fort Durnford, the meeting included different stakeholders under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, led by the Local Economic Development (LED) unit.

A need to speed up the process to register the proposed Community Tourism Organisation (CTO) for Estcourt came to the fore.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality confirmed that they are ready to host yet another successful ‘Annual Night Market’, which is set to take place on December 15.

The market will be held in Harding Street from 17:00 to 22:00. This is a fund-raising and also a nation-building event which aims to bring together Estcourt residents in celebration of Christmas. It also helps to provide a platform for local businesses to market and sell their products.

Another event in the pipeline is the ‘Wagendrift Dam Family Fun Day’, expected to take place on Friday, December 16.

The purpose of the fun day is to grow the number of visitors to the dam and also market the area so that more people will know about it.
Public Safety’s Phillip Hellerle assured the forum that they are ready for the festive season and plans are in place to make sure that visitors and residents attending these events will be safe at all times.
