Seven people tragically lost their lives this afternoon (December 18) in a crash on the N3 between Bergville and the Tugela Plaza.

A taxi overturned and rolled, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Seven passengers were declared dead at the scene.

Six other passengers were treated for injuries ranging from serious to critical.

Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services and other private ambulance services responded to the scene.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and will be investigated.
