Watersmeet beauty pageant a success

A total of 30 contestants participated

The first annual Watersmeet beauty pageant was staged recently.

Held at the Watersmeet Community Hall, the event was a resounding success that saw a total of 30 contestants participating.

The competition consisted of five age group categories, namely 5-7, 8-11, teenage, seniors and plus-size.

The winners were as follows…

Seniors category: Mandisa Buthelezi – Miss Watersmeet Queen; Asanda Ndaba – first runner-up; and Nomfundo Miya – second runner-up.

Plus-size category: Zinhle Mkhwanazi – Queen; Banele Buthelezi – first runner-up; and Amanda Ngwenya – second runner-up.

Junior category: Oguchukwe Muochebe – Queen; Sanele Shabalala – first runner-up; Siyamthanda Dlamini – second runner-up; and Mbalenhle Sishange – Petite Charity Queen.

Watersmeet beauty pageant founder Ms Phumelele Madondo said she was happy that the event was a success. “I started this beauty contest to help young girls stay away from social ills such as drugs and alcohol abuse.” She added that she is very grateful to Mr Rey Hlatshwayo for sponsoring the event.
