Helpmekaar Road still closed
Some parts of the area have been without water for several weeks

Helpmekaar Road is still closed due to protest action in the St Chad’s area.
The protest started yesterday (January 23) as angry protesters demanded water.

Similar protests have been held recently in other areas as well, including Roosboom and Acton Homes.
Ward 7 Cllr Khulekani Mdluli said it’s not the whole area that’s experiencing water shortages. He explained that, in his ward, some parts have water and others don’t. “I think uThukela will be in a better position to give details on the problem and also how they are going to fix it,” said Mdluli.
Motorists are advised to take caution and rather use alternative routes.
