Protestors block N11 entrance to Arcelor Mittal
Protesters are believed to be demanding that more local drivers be appointed.
A bus load of protestors blocked the N11 entrance to Arcelor Mittal South Africa (AMSA) this morning, bringing traffic to a standstill.
“It is believed that a bus carrying protestors proceeded to the N11 entrance of AMSA, where they forced two truck drivers to abandon their vehicles. They then parked the trucks across the road and forced the two drivers to leave with them, “said an on scene source.
Protesters are thought to be demanding that the company appoint more local drivers.
Several officials are currently on the scene, monitoring the situation while traffic officials attempt to remove the trucks from the road.
The road is currently clear of protesters and AMSA employees can still get to work.
