Editor –
Due to Covid-19, we have not hosted our Thaipoosam Kavady prayer (as we usually do) for the last two years.
This year, by the grace of Lord Muruga, we have hosted our annual Thaipoosam Kavady and it has been a resounding success once again, with devotees from Dundee, surrounding areas and as far as Johannesburg and Durban gracing the function. On behalf of the Dundee Hindu Temple, I wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to all persons, young and old, who have so willingly and generously contributed to our Kavady Festival from January 26 to February 4.
We also want to thank all the hard workers who selflessly availed themselves to assist in this massive undertaking.
Sometimes words are just not enough to convey how much we appreciate your support, assistance, and generosity.
The draw of the raffle held to raise funds for the Dundee Hindu Temple was held on Saturday, February 4. The first prize of an air fryer donated by KZN Fleet of Pietermaritzburg was won by Keshika Uchee of Dundee. The second prize of a convection oven donated by Mr & Mrs Vishal Dookhi & Sons was won by Navah Maharaj of Newcastle. The third prize of a gas kettle donated by Mr & Mrs Yogen Soobramoney & Sons was won by Ranji Govender of Dundee.
We also had two mega prize draws and the winners were: Vishal Kalli of Ladysmith – who won a milkshake maker donated by Paint Centre, Dundee; and Nehalia Dookhi of Dundee, who won a china tea set donated by Mr and Mrs Harry Dookhi. The prize for the highest ticket sales was a gas stove donated by Kali IT Services, Dundee. This was won by Grace Nair of Dundee.
May Lord Muruga bless you and your loved ones with success, happiness and good health. We look forward to your continued support in the future.
G Dookhi (Dundee Hindu Temple secretary)
