A school child was hit by a vehicle this afternoon (March 28) near Egerton Primary School.

Paramedics arrived at the scene,  the child was stabilised and then rushed to hospital in an ambulance. 

The mother burst into tears when she reached the scene, and the motorist was also in a state of shock.

Public Safety officers responded and controlled traffic.
