Living life online – Kaylen’s Way

At just five years old, Kaylen Jordan Smith has become a local celebrity… This is due to the growing popularity of his YouTube channel called ‘Kaylen’s Way’.

Described by his mother Sheroma as fun, happy, friendly and always smiling, Kaylen also has a ‘mischievous’ side and is known for pranking his family. He enjoys music and dancing, talking and meeting people. This, coupled with his love for YouTube, provided the perfect foundation to start a channel.

“He’s always wanted his own channel. He’s funny, out there, doing silly stuff and has a big personality. We decided to start a YouTube channel because we noticed that people love how entertaining he is,” said Sheroma.

Steadily, content for the channel was created, with regular uploads.

“We do videos twice a week, with shorts in between. We get inspiration from Kaylen’s daily life and the things we do as a family. He loves pranking us, so we capture all these fun moments,” added his mother.

Preparation for making the videos begins with brainstorming so that Kaylen is comfortable and ‘ready for action’. An area is set up and the shooting begins. The family says that the fun part is the final phase, namely the video editing. ‘Kaylen’s Way’ has been determinedly growing and now has over 4000 subscribers in just five months.

“His channel has grown tremendously in five months, with over 75,000 channel views and 60 uploaded videos to date. We are so excited and grateful. It’s exciting and overwhelming because people are starting to recognise him everywhere he goes,” said Sheroma.
