Thando on the rise to the top

Since we last spoke to Noluthando (Thando) Zwane Madinane in February, the Loskop beauty has taken enormous strides in her endeavour to win the Mrs South Africa crown.

The 37-year-old was ecstatic when she received the news in early February that she had been selected as one of the semi-finalists.
This was an enormous achievement for Thando, who was born and raised in the small village of Bhekuzulu, KwaLomode.

She made a call for locals to show their support and help boost her chances of securing a spot in the finals by voting for her. Thando was overwhelmed with gratitude when she got the news recently that, due to the high number of votes received, she is among the top 10 semi-finalists and is a step closer to the finals.

Remember to keep voting for Thando by sending an SMS with the words ‘Thando Zwane Madinane’ to 47587. Each SMS costs R3 and voting closes on July 5.

“I thank the Estcourt community for the amazing love and support I’m receiving. It has been a beautiful yet challenging journey so far that has taught me bravery, exposed me to great visions, and made me realise that I am able and I can do what I set my mind to. I am looking forward to life, even after Mrs SA,” said Thando.

These past weeks have been a flurry of attending and preparing for Mrs SA events, which included a High Tea where 800 guests were formally introduced to the bevy of beauties who are the semi-finalists. Thando has also rubbed shoulders with some of her role models.

“I’ve been in contact and networking with different high-profile people, but my inspiration was Matapa Maila, who is the Mrs World first runner-up. Her journey is what inspired me most,” Thando explained.

While drawing inspiration from others, Thando has also blossomed in her own right.

“I’ve grown in amazing ways; I am stronger and bolder than I was before. The way I think is different, I am now able to interact with different people without feeling inferior, and almost everything about me has changed drastically,” she said.
