A vehicle crashed and caught alight this morning (May 5) on the Harrismith road near the Windsor Dam turn-off. The driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into a bushy area.

The motorist said he was heading towards the Tugela Plaza when the crash happened and in the blink on an eye, the car was on fire.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.

The driver was grateful for his narrow escape, but was a bit shaken up after the incident.

K9 Search & Rescue, together with Public Safety, also responded to the scene.
