Mother's Day is almost approaching, and we at the Newcastle Advertiser are all about celebrating those women who have helped shape us into the people we are today!

So, in order to honor the amazing women in our lives, readers were given the opportunity to tell us what made their mother’s special.

Here is what they had to say:

Poppie van Staaden:

“This is my mom (Poppie Van Staden); she is the strongest mother I know. She lost two sons and both parents, and she is still getting up every day! She is looking after herself, always dressed pretty and neat as a pin, and all 10 of her grandchildren are always just too proud to have such a loving, pretty granny. The thing is, she is a mother to so many people. And she is so good at it. She deserves more than just a prize.”

Magda Blackler:

“I lost my biological mother when I was 18 and in high school, but in 2019, I gained my mother-in-law back. This is my mother, and she has accepted and loved me as her own child. She is a warrior woman, a woman of steel, and a woman of God. I thank God often for what he has given me in return. Happy Mother’s Day to this beautiful woman, Magda Blackler.”
