Leo Club hosts its first charity event
“It was difficult to remain positive, especially when our gazebo was flying around in the wind,” admits president of Newcastle’s Leo Club, Sarah Baney.
Baney was candidly describing the challenges the club had to overcome in trying to ensure that its first event was a success.
Members of the Leo Club, the youth arm of the well-known Lion’s Club, hosted a Colour Charity Festival at Majuba Lodge on Saturday, June 3.
This event was the newly-established club’s first fund-raising project, the proceeds of which will be used to buy school shoes for less-fortunate learners in the community.
Baney said it was difficult to keep from becoming stressed when the weather started acting up, but the support that members of the Leo Club gave to each other, resulted a ‘really great’ event.
