Creating an inclusive environment for cancer survivors

Survivors and stakeholders gathered at the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre, where information and education were the priorities of the day

When diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening illness, feelings of loneliness or fear of being stigmatised can arise.

To provide holistic support for cancer survivors, the Estcourt Hospice Association and its partners hosted a meeting recently.

Survivors and stakeholders gathered at the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre, where information and education were the priorities of the day.

One of the primary purposes of the meeting was to dispel the stigma that cancer survivors may encounter. Survivors and patients were also given the opportunity to network and create fellowship among each other.

To conclude the meeting, food parcels were distributed to survivors and patients. This event was made possible by Estcourt Hospice, the Roman Catholic Church, the Mkhize family, the local council and the community.
