Local matric results better than last year?
Congratulations to all the matrics who passed and obtained distinctions

Matric results for 2023 were released last night (January 18) and students came in their numbers to get the newspaper from Ted’s Engen Garage. The area was packed with learners feeling stressed, excited and worried about what their results might be.

Many schools reported that they performed better than 2022.
Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) had a 77.4% pass rate, an increase of 10%.

The parking lot at the garage saw learners screaming and shouting in excitement upon seeing that they had passed their final exams.

Ladysmith High School (LHS) had a pass rate of 99.4%.
Harvest High School, Islamic Educational Centre and Emhlwaneni High School had a perfect 100%.
Limit Hill Combined School had 81.7% and Dr Joseph Shabalala Secondary School 72.9%.

KwaZulu-Natal as a whole had a matric pass rate of 86.4%.
