Vacancies exist for members of the community to serve on La Gratitude Home’s Board of Control.

Please note that serving on the Board of Control is on a voluntary basis.

Annual KZN quadrangular hockey tournament set to take place next weekend

May 24 and 25: Avid club hockey players are in for a real treat next weekend when the annual KZN quadrangular hockey tournament takes place at Ferrum High School.

The two-day event will run from Friday, May 24, from 08:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday, May 25, from 08:00 to 18:00 and will offer hockey fans nail-biting excitement.

An estimated 250 players from across KwaZulu-Natal will flock to Newcastle to participate in the tournament, which the town last hosted in 2015.

The tournament will be followed by an elegant prize-giving ceremony dinner to be hosted at Majuba Lodge on Saturday evening, May 25.

Various stalls will be available; however, businesses are welcome to come on board as sponsors, where they can host a stall, promoting their brands.

The Ramakrishna Centre of SA to host Wellness Day

May 25: The Ramakrishna Centre of SA will host a free Wellness Day from 08:00 to 13:00 at the Newcastle Ramakrishna Centre.

The services provided will include the following: blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol, B12 injections and there will be free reflexology for the first 15 patients.

SANBS will also be in attendance for those wanting to donate blood.

Everyone is welcome.

Drakensberg Primary School’s annual golf day

May 25: Drakensberg Primary School will host its annual Golf Day at the Newcastle Golf Club starting at 10:00 sharp.

The format of the day will be 2 Ball – Better Ball Scramble Drive and entry will cost R250 per player and will include halfway house and green fees.

Ward 3 Family Fun Day

June 15: Ward 3 will host a family fun day with soccer, an obstacle course, board games and Thunee.

Vital check ups can be done at the clinic and there will also be a blood bank, stalls, music and much more at the Fernwood Sports Ground from 08:30 am.

Registration for soccer teams close on June 10. Admission is free and Stalls costs R200.

The competition format will be a two ball – better ball.
