Foundation donates to storm-ravaged areas
The Al-Imdaad Foundation, in conjunction with the Amajuba District Municipality, paid a visit on Monday (June 10) to the families affected by last week’s tornado
The municipality said the objective was to keep track of the devastated area and compile a list of the victims’ requirements, the majority of who were left without a roof over their heads after their houses were devastated and their belongings ruined.
The foundation donated items including blankets, toiletries, and plastic for temporary roofing. Once an assessment has been made, a promise was made for further assistance from their (Al-Imdaad’s) donors
Cllr. Mbongeni Hlatshwayo, speaking on behalf of the mayor, thanked the Al-Imdaad Foundation for their involvement and urged the employees of the Disaster Management departments to put in extra effort to make sure that relief reaches everyone in need.
To prevent occurrences like this one, he also advised that public notification and education about weather-related incidents be carried out.
The municipality has assured the public that they ‘will continue to be close to the people affected by the storm to ensure that they benefit.’
