A 48-year-old man received the ultimate jail sentence of double life imprisonment for twice raping an eight-year-old girl in KwaCeza in October 2023.
The Ulundi Regional Court heard on January 29 that girl was on her way to play with friends when the accused, who cannot be named as the victim was his neighbour,
attacked and dragged her into a nearby clump of bushes where he raped her.
Three days later, the girl was playing with her friends at the man’s house when he called her inside the house and forced her onto the bed and again raped her. The girl reported the rape to her family, and they contacted the police. The man was found guilty in both counts of rape and declared unfit to possess a firearm, and his name engraved on the National Register for Sex Offenders.
