Shop owner dies after brutal assault

The community remains in shock as authorities work to bring justice to the family of the beloved shop owner

Pongola shop owner, Mukamil Alhimad, died following a brutal assault last Saturday.
Alhimad was initially treated at Piet Retief Hospital after he had suffered multiple injuries during a robbery at his shop in the Ntumbane district. He was discharged the same day but later returned to the hospital after complaining of severe pain in his head and neck. Tragically, Alhimad succumbed to his injuries while under medical care.
Pongola police have opened a case of murder and an investigation is continuing.
The community remains in shock as authorities work to bring justice to the family of the beloved shop owner.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
