Four people have been declared dead at the scene after a truck collided with a taxi on the N3 northbound this morning (August 23).

The crash happened just after the Bergville Plaza.

Some of the occupants of the taxi were trapped in the wreckage and the jaws-of-life had to be used to rescue them.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.

Police, RTI, Public Safety, emergency services and towing services responded to the scene.

MEC for Transport & Human Settlements Siboniso Duma has expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
