A well-known television personality has been arrested in Newcastle after allegedly sexually harassing a 13-year-old girl at a local salon. Read more here:

A local television personality has been arrested and charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at a Newcastle salon.

According to a family source, the girl had gone to the salon after school to prepare for a spelling competition.

While waiting her turn, the suspect allegedly lifted her skirt and touched her inappropriately. The incident reportedly left the child traumatised.

The incident was later reported to Newcastle police.

The suspect was arrested the following day and charged with sexual assault. Amajuba District police spokesperson Constable Njabulo Langa confirmed the case had been registered by the Newcastle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

The suspect first appeared in the Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 15. The bail hearing, initially postponed, is now scheduled for Friday, September 29.

He remains in custody.
