Parish hosts fun run to unite families
Maria Consolata Parish hosted a Heritage Day fun run, uniting families and raising awareness on gender-based violence in Barry Hertzog Park.
The Maria Consolata Parish hosted an exciting family fun run and walk on Heritage Day (September 24).
The event took place at the parish in Barry Hertzog Park, with dozens of runners taking to the streets to complete the course.
Water stations were set up every 2km to ensure all participants, young and old, stayed hydrated and nourished.
Madadeni Hospital Clinical Psychologist, Sduduzo Mncwabe, took the opportunity to address participants on the issue of gender-based violence.
He delivered a specific message to men, urging husbands and uncles to set a positive example for young males, helping to break the cycle of gender-based violence in the community.
