Municipality helps students apply for tertiary education
The programme was designed to support young people by providing essential guidance and resources to access financial aid.
The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Youth Office, in partnership with the Sotari Foundation, hosted a three-day NSFAS Application Drive & Youth Funding Assistance programme at the Estcourt Town Hall from November 13 to 15.
The programme was designed to support young people within the Inkosi Langalibalele area by providing essential guidance and resources to access financial aid opportunities, particularly through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Several key stakeholders joined the programme to ensure its success. Mnambithi TVET College was present to share information about available courses, while the Uthukela District and Inkosi Langalibalele youth offices assisted young people with NYDA products and Business Management Training applications.
The Department of Labour (Estcourt) outlined its services and registered youth on its database. NSFAS officials were also on site, offering direct support with application submissions and responding to student enquiries.

A highlight was the handover of six laptops to deserving youth who participated in the programme. The laptops were donated by NSFAS and handed over in partnership with the speaker of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, Cllr SW Khumalo.
The Youth Office expressed its gratitude to all partners for working together to empower young people and expand access to educational opportunities.
