Alwynkop Shooting Club brought its 2025 season to a close with its final club shoot and prize-giving held on December 6.

A total of 27 shooters took part in the final three-stage handgun shoot of the year, competing under warm and favourable range conditions. The day concluded on a relaxed note with a spit braai prepared by Mattheus Wessels and his team.

Champions honoured at prize-giving

Category winners announced on the day were: Best Production Optics – Derich Eicker; Best Production – Dirk Venter; Best PCC – Adriaan Odendaal; Best Junior – FC Eicker; and Best Lady – Cathy de Beer.

The main trophies for 2025 were awarded as follows: Club Champion – Derich Eicker; Lady Club Champion – Cathy de Beer; Junior Champion – FC Eicker; PCC Champion – Adriaan Odendaal; Top Gun – Derich Eicker; Super Senior – Anton Ferreira; Friend of Alwynkop – Gerhard Lombard; 3-Gun Ladies’ Log Leader – Cathy de Beer; 3-Gun Junior – FC Eicker; 3-Gun Log Leader (Men) – Daniel de Beer; Most Active Member – FC Eicker; and Most Improved Junior – FC Eicker.

Special trophies recognising exceptional service to the club were presented to Willem Robbertze, Anton Ferreira and Derich Eicker.

The club noted that 2025 was a strong year for shooting sport in South Africa, highlighted by the IPSC World Shoot hosted locally in June. Several Dundee shooters attended the international event, where local junior FC Eicker secured an impressive third place overall in the junior category.

Looking ahead to 2026, Alwynkop chairperson Fritz Botes thanked all members involved in IPSC shooting for their commitment, discipline and active participation throughout the year, adding that shooters would soon be back on the range for another busy season.
