Well-known local businessman Edward Bonga has established his own consultancy, bringing more than three decades of experience in housing and urban planning.

Born in Zimbabwe, Bonga completed his matric before enrolling at the University of Zimbabwe. In 1991, he obtained both a diploma and a Bachelor of Science degree in housing planning and urban planning.

He later immigrated to South Africa, where he married and started a family. He and his wife have two children and a granddaughter.

Over the years, Bonga built an extensive career in municipal planning, serving in several municipalities as a manager in planning departments.

In 2006, he joined the Umzinyathi District Municipality, where he worked for a number of years as planning manager, contributing to development initiatives and spatial planning within the district.

Veteran planner brings 30 years of experience to private sector

Bonga has now taken his experience into the private sector by opening his own business, Mhofu Planning Consulting, in the Endumeni district.

Through the consultancy, he aims to assist companies and developers with professional planning services and expertise to ensure sustainable and compliant development.

In his spare time, Bonga enjoys soccer, running and music. He also values spending quality time with his family, especially his granddaughter, as well as with friends.

With a strong academic background and many years of practical municipal experience, Bonga says he looks forward to supporting local businesses and contributing to responsible development in the district.
