Ready Steady Cook competition celebrates Dundee High culinary talent

Learners showcase culinary flair as Zoe Wild wins a thrilling Ready Steady Cook finale.

Dundee High School’s Ready Steady Cook competition, the brainchild of Mrs Edwards,  served up an exciting display of creativity and skill, culminating in a thrilling finale.

Learners competed in a series of themed rounds, which tested both presentation and technique. These included crafting Instagram-worthy sandwiches, baking muffins and decorating cakes.

Final challenge tests creativity under pressure

In the semi-final round, sponsored by Tanya Putterill, contestants were challenged to prepare egg-based dishes. Mpho and Zoe impressed the judges, finishing in a tie for top honours.

Four finalists — Mpho, Zoe, Hlelo and Celiwe — advanced to the final round. Here, they faced a demanding mystery box challenge featuring chicken, dried onions, potatoes and a surprise ingredient.

Zoe Wild was ultimately crowned the overall winner, standing out for her skill, presentation and flavour.

In the individual rounds, Megan Pretorius won the Instagrammable sandwich challenge, Siphelele Ntuli claimed victory in the muffin round, and Celiwe Zibula excelled in the cake decoration challenge.
