Body found, police looking for next-of-kin

The body of an African male was found following a fire along Canna Avenue.

Estcourt detectives are appealing to members of the public to help locate the next-of-kin of an unidentified man whose body was found in Forderville.

Man found after fire

According to police, the body of an unknown African male was found on Sunday, July 12, following a fire in a field along Canna Avenue. The deceased was partially burnt.

An inquest has since been opened.

Police say that, despite ongoing investigations, no one has come forward to claim the deceased. They also confirmed that the man does not match the description of any person currently reported missing.

Description of the deceased

The deceased was wearing a navy-blue coverall top with the words ‘Pioneer 40’ printed on it and khaki-coloured trousers. He was of average build, dark in complexion, had short hair and a beard, with no distinguishing marks on his body.

Detectives need your assistance

Detectives are urging anyone who may have information that could assist in identifying the deceased or locating his next-of-kin to contact Sergeant Miya on 036 342 9520 or 073 135 3882. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Police assure the public that all information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
