Dannhauser Full Service School has been named South Africa’s top-performing full service school.
Dannhauser Full Service School has been named South Africa’s top-performing full service school after taking first place at the 2026 National Education Excellence Awards in Johannesburg.
The school received the prestigious award under the theme “Strong Foundations, Strong Futures”, in recognition of its commitment to quality, inclusive education and outstanding learner achievement.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education congratulated the school, praising the combined efforts of its leadership, educators, learners, parents, School Governing Body and the wider community.
The achievement follows 18 years under the leadership of principal L.B. Makhoba, who has guided the school through numerous academic and co-curricular successes.
Overcoming many challenges
During her tenure, the school also navigated significant challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic, while maintaining high educational standards and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
The school described Makhoba’s leadership as being characterised by integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to the success of learners, staff and the broader school community.
Special recognition was also given to the School Management Team for its professionalism, shared vision and commitment to continuous improvement.
The school said the team’s efforts have strengthened teaching and learning while ensuring that every learner has an opportunity to succeed.
Educators were also praised for their dedication to inclusive education and for meeting the diverse needs of learners with care, patience and innovation.
