Landbou learners left their mark at the recent inter-school relay night held at Vryheid High School on February 4. Competing against schools such as Pioneer, Ferrum and Vryheid High, approximately 47 learners represented Landbou with determination, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship.

The atmosphere remained energetic and positive throughout the evening, even when challenges arose. Despite the competitive nature of the event, schools encouraged and supported one another while maintaining respect for teammates and opponents. The evening concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, where athletes received medals for their achievements. Landbou secured 5th place overall, with several relay teams finishing in 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions. The school expressed pride in the commitment and sportsmanship displayed by its learners.

Rugby Teams Impress at Orange Grove Festival

Landbou also attended the Sarel Cilliers Orange Grove Festival over the weekend, where the rugby teams delivered strong performances.

Rugby results:

• U/14 lost 14–0 against Amanzimtoti High School

• U/15 won 45–5 against Estcourt High School

• U/16 won 31–17 against Estcourt High School

• Second team won 22–0 against Harvest First Team

• First team won 18–8 against Greytown High School

Well done to all coaches and teams who participated.

Hockey Player Advances to KZN Trials

The under-14, 15, 16 and 18 girls’ hockey teams attended NKZN trials at Pioneer Hoërskool on February 12. Congratulations to Wandile Mbokozi, who has been selected for the NKZN team. She will now proceed to the KZN trials in Pietermaritzburg on February 22. The school wishes her every success.

Netball Stars Selected for Dubai Tour

Exciting news followed during the Sarel Cilliers sports day on February 14, when a talent scout discreetly observed the netball matches. After watching two games, the scout approached Landbou coaches to identify players who had impressed her.

The following players have been selected for the 7s tour to Dubai:

Grade 11s Host Successful Valentine’s Sokkie

The Grade 11 planning committee took charge of organising the annual Valentine’s sokkie. Through careful planning and teamwork, they ensured every detail — from music to décor — was well managed. The lively “Back to the 90s” theme brought energy and creativity to the celebration, making it a memorable success.

Grade 12s Experience Shakespeare Live

The Grade 12 class recently attended a performance of Othello by Think Theatre, hosted by Dundee High School. The adaptation brought Shakespeare to life for modern audiences and provided learners with a valuable educational experience. The school extended its gratitude to Dundee High School for the opportunity.
