August 5: The Cuppa 4 Cansa fundraiser will be hosted at the Cannon Lodge at 96 Allen Street at 13:30 for 14:00. Come and support this the initiative at R50 per person and enjoy heartfelt talks with a variety of motivational and informative speakers, entertainment, snacks and so much more.

  • Newcastle Organisation for the Aged (Nofta) to host Women’s Day celebration fun Walk with Boss Auto

August 9: Nofta will be celebrating Women’s Day by hosting a fun walk in conjunction with Boss Auto from 9:00. The entrance fee is R30 per person. The route starts and ends at the Nofta Service Centre at 7B Nightingale Street in Lennoxton.Route: From NOFTA down Hathorn Street towards the Iscor Flats, turn right up Centre Street past Caltex Garage (Mojo’s Convenient Store) into Henrietta Street, then into Draper Street, then into Nightingale Street, ending at NOFTA again. Water points will also be set up along the route. Individual groupings (schools, banks, and business houses) are urged to enter their teams at R300 per team—no limit per team. Winning prizes will be rewarded for the first senior citizen, first adult, first junior, and first team.

August 12: Attention all HLVPs, executive committee, and Temple members: The Newcastle Siva Subramanian Temple will be holding its AGM at the temple’s main hall. The Newcastle Siva Subramanian Temple will also be holding a by-election for the position of secretary on the executive committee.

  • Lincoln Heights Secondary School hosts 40th anniversary dinner

August 18: Lincoln Heights Secondary School will host their 40th anniversary dinner at the NOFTA Hall at 7B Nightingale Street, Lennoxton, from 17:30 to 18:00. The entrance fee is R250 per person, and all meals and refreshments will be strictly halaal. The dress code will be formal.

  • Lincoln Heights Secondary School to host 40th anniversary Family Fiesta celebration

August 19: Lincoln Heights Secondary School presents a Family Fiesta in celebration of its 40th Anniversary. Join us for a fun-filled event with a variety of food stalls, games, and competitions with great prizes up for grabs. There will be live entertainment, including Rockstar Ryan, LHS learners, and stand-up comedian, Bash with Tash. There will also be a soccer tournament and much more.  The fiesta will take place from 10:00 to 18:00, and tickets will be available for R40 per adult and R20 for children under 12 and can be purchased at only at the entrance gate.

September 3: The Hindu Dharma Newcastle will host the 24th Annual Inder Pooja and Maha Yajna at the corner of Dixon and St Thomas Street from 8:00. The prayer will commence with a peace walk starting at 07:00. Parsadh and lunch will be served.
