One thing we all can agree on is that biltong is a staple in any household, especially while heading into rugby season…

However, during the winter season we tend to want to spend a bit more time indoors and swap the braaivleis for a warm and delicious hearty meal.

So why not give our tried and tested biltong pasta recipe a shot?

Ingredients:

  • 500g pasta noodles
  • 250ml sour cream or 250ml fresh cream (optional)
  • Finely chopped green and red peppers
  • Two chicken stock blocks
  • One tablespoon Herbs
  • One tablespoon garlic paste
  • 500g sliced biltong of your choice
  • One large finely chopped
  • 500g grated cheddar cheese
  • 500g mushrooms
  • Eight tablespoons tomato paste

Sauce:

  • Meld the chicken stock, herbs, and 500ml boiling water, then add the tomato paste.

Directions:

  • Fry the onions, garlic, and green peppers in oil until the onions are soft.
  • Add the pasta and cook for about 30 minutes, or until the pasta is soft.
  • Stir in the sour cream and mushrooms.
  • Stir in the biltong and cheese.
  • Allow this to simmer for 30 minutes on low heat before serving.
