Police arrest learner after stabbing outside Newcastle school

Police arrest a pupil after another minor was stabbed outside a Newcastle school. An investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Newcastle SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder after a minor was stabbed this week outside a local school.

SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam, said officers on patrol in Sutherland Street came across a young man who claimed he had been assaulted at school.

“Upon further investigation, officers found another young man with stab wounds,” said Arumugam.

The victim identified his attacker as the same individual who had initially approached police for help. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital, and the suspect was arrested.

The exact circumstances remain unclear, and police investigations are continuing.
