Underdogs Endumeni surprises competition as they head into the finals
The most recent NFWAA knockout semi-final proved to be a difficult outing for both Newcastle clubs.
Chelmsford and Endumeni fished against each other in the Sanford Islands C zone, while Ladysmith battled against Itec Freespool in the B zone.
It proved to be a slow fishing day; however, Ladysmith seemed to have worked out the correct bait combinations and made a total of 60 points, while Itec Freespool managed only 34.
Shabeer Pullen of Itec Freespool managed to win the individual prize for the heaviest scaled fish, while Sathar Khan pocketed the non-scaled prize with a barbel of 3.864kg.
Sathar and Shabeer both received an outright miniature trophy as well as R200 cash each for their catches, with compliments from Zamameena Construction.
Chelmsford was stunned by a determined Endumeni contingent, who booked their place in the final with a convincing 37-to-16-point victory.
Zaakir Pingri was Endumeni’s top angler, with a contribution of 10 points.
Shandy Singh congratulated Endumeni and wished them the best of luck in their first final, where they will take on the defending champions and Ladysmith.
