Bowlers battle for honours in club drawn fours
Fours final thrills spectators with comeback:
An excellent field of 40 bowlers took the greens last weekend for the club drawn fours competition.
Two sections of five teams each then competed against each other.
After five games, the section winners were:
Ron Howe, James Dlamini, Mariska Kuhn and Danie Reyneke, and Alet Harmse, Billy Villiers, Grant Teasdale and Charmaine Trennery.
The final between the two teams provided excellent entertainment for the spectators and the players themselves.
After the 10th end, Alet’s team appeared to be home and dry with a commanding 15-5 lead.
Ron’s team, however, had other ideas and fought back to score seven shots on the next two ends to narrow the gap to 12-15.
This wake-up call was enough to shake up Alet and her team, who managed to maintain their lead to record a well-deserved 19-12 victory.
Well played, all!
