The annual Bass Challenge at Bivane Dam was held on June 14 and 15.
The competition started with 42 boats in the fresh winter morning.
Winter challenges are slow, but bigger fish can be caught by the dedicated angler. The biggest bass caught was 4.835kg and was landed by Norman Hills, followed by Dave Thompson with 3.095kg and in third position was Ivan Van Vuuren with a 2.710 kg bass.
The heaviest bag of bass was caught by Team Honda Marine, weighing 14.765kg, the team consisting of Tim Williams and Wayne Du Toit and was followed by Crackleback 1, with Alan Cameron and Lee De Beer, with a weight of 13.265kg.
The total fish weighed was 139 with the average weight of 1.189kg.
A special thanks goes to the sponsors and their donations which made this competition worth it. Thanks to Newcor Trading for the biggest sponsorship and Siyaxhasana Construction for the hours put in by Wayne Bisset and his fellow workers to make it a great event.
Brent Auto, Bundu Outdoor Centre, Ace Hardware, Mascor, Bell Equipment, Braytons Timbers, Vinko Enterprises, Radical Solutions, Vital Signs, Anevey IT Solutions and Remedia Pharmacy are our heroes in making this event a success, with the prizes which were sponsored in this competition.
For the hard work of Brent Bevan; Paul Steffenson, Miles Wood and Allan Muller, the club salute them for their efforts in 2013 and 2014. The job comes without payment but the passion of fishing is their only remittance. Ensure that you are counted on the AGM and let your voice be heard.
