Last Saturday, July 19 a Four Ball Alliance competition with scramble drive and two scores to count was played in celebration of Bobby Goodoon’s 80th birthday.
Members of Bobby’s family as well as past club members and visitors were welcomed.
A big thank you must go to Vino Haribhai and Harry Koovarjee for organising the day as well as providing the prizes and supper.
Also thanks to Bobby’s family for the snacks, Owen McLucky for the biltong and all the people whose efforts contributed to making the day the great success it turned out to be including our hardworking barmen David and Musa.
Winners with a score of 108 were Messrs Gordon Smith, Lional Laatz, Paul Wagenaar and Martin van Niekerk.
Second on 106 were Messrs Vino Haribhai, Harry Koovarjee, Booby Goodoon and Ajeesh Lalparsad.
Third place went to Nils Dah, Angela Dahl, Matthew Dahl and Russell Potgieter on 105 whilst 102 gave fourth place to Peter Wood, Owen McLucky and Fred and Dawn Vickers.
Closest to the pin on number three was Deejay Ramdhav and two clubs were had by Gina Hamman (number three), Rajen Goodoon (number seven) and Bruce le Roux (number 16). The winners also won the jackpot with 28 points.
To Bobby we say well done on achieving this milestone and may there be many more miles ahead for you both on the golf course and elsewhere!
Last Wednesday’s comp. was won by Melton Schiever and the Friday six hole comp. by Seo Mtetwa with a commendable 17 points.
This Wednesday (today) will be a BBBS comp depending on turnout and then on Saturday, July 26 the Zulu Shield comp. against Mooi River’s team kindly sponsored by Eskort Ltd.
Details regarding format etc have been posted on the club notice board. Sandbags kindly sponsored by Harry and Uday of Narothums are now on sale at the club for R20 and in future the carrying of sandbags for the purpose of repairing divots will be compulsory.
Failure to do so will incur a fine of R50!
