The Newcastle Social Soccer League (NSSL) continued last Sunday with teams aiming to secure their spots on the log.

The Newcastle Legends kicked off the day’s games by going against Dannhauser Masters.

With Dannhauser Masters taking an early lead, Legends managed to secure an equaliser before half time.

During the second half, the two teams put on a valiant display of soccer, but despite Legends’ best efforts they were defeated three – two.

Fairleigh United faced Spartans in an extremely tough game, with neither team willing to give the other an opportunity to score.

Despite Spartans strong defence, Fairleigh managed to secure a goal and secure a position in the lead.

Spartans not wanting to be outdone, applied pressure and scored an equaliser.

The game ended with a one-one draw.

Stella then took on Al-Ahly in a friendly match.

Al-Ahly managed to score two quick consecutive goals early in the game.

During the second half, the game took a slightly different turn.

With Al-Ahly leading two – nil during the first half, Stella quickly turned the game around and the game ended with a three-three draw.

This Sunday sees Al-Ahly taking on Fairleigh at 1pm, while Newcastle Legends will be taking on Sporting FC at the same time. Stella will then face Spartans at 3pm.
