Disappointing bowls squad for the men

It was not a good squad for our men, but congratulations to the Bergville, Estcourt and Harrismith contingent who were more fortunate.

Vryheid, as I said last week, was lucky for some but not for all.

Congratulations to the following who made the Inter-Provincial teams, and better luck next time for those who did not: Barbara Baleri, Magriet Coetzee, Lorraine Kirsten and Charmaine van der Merwe. Good bowling and enjoy your trip to face the rest of the country!

Also congratulations to the Harrismith ladies who were selected: Ida Oosthuizen, Annelie du Preez, Ria Mapp, Helga Rossouw and Hannetjie Botha.

It was not a good squad for our men, but congratulations to the Bergville, Estcourt and Harrismith contingent who were more fortunate. Well done to Braam van Zyl, Jimmy Nel, Franco Lepera, Shaun Hughes, Phil Rooke and Gavin Robinson – good bowling and enjoy your trip.

On the home front, it’s all systems go for the Olga Milne Tournament this weekend. All have been hard at work preparing for this event, which is an annual highlight. It is unfortunate that last year’s winners are tied up with their District bowls and won’t be defending their title.

This gives a chance for new winners to be lucky! Good luck to those who are participating and a big thank you to everyone who has assisted in any way.

The Club Singles are coming up on August 23. The entry is on the board, so don’t lose out – get your name up before Shenaaz does the draw.
