THE CLUB committee had its first official meeting for the 2014/2015 year and it is clear that the club belongs to the members.
It is confirmed that the first league meeting will be held at Bloemveld Dam. From all the old fairy tales that you may have heard, this dam was alive with small bass fry in the last season and it holds a promise of good fishing this year. Don’t miss this!
Fishing starts at 6:00am until 6:00pm. It is a beautiful venue, so bring the family with you.
There is a buzz in the club because the September league will incorporate three skins with substantial prize money in each of the skins.
Saturday, September 6, from 6:00am to 6:00pm, will be the day to partake in the best way to fish and to earn money for your endeavours. Being a normal league day, you can amass points for the league and have a chance to win money three times. This is a great social event and your age does not matter. This event will be held at the club venue at Bloodriver. With a slipway and all amenities available, bring your family, braai packs and liquid refreshments for the whole day’s fun.
Boat owners in the club have convinced the committee to host a roving league fishing outing to Goedertrouw Dam.
Being a top venue for Bass anglers in South Arica, it is an offer not to be sneezed at. While some anglers have no boats, some members with boats will co-operate with no boat anglers to fish this pristine bass water. The first six members to respond, will make this dream a reality. Vryheid Luremasters will donate money in lieu of petrol costs, and the interest shown by members can ensure that the individual package is very affordable.
The foreseeable dates for this event are September 13 or 20, and any interested club members must show their grit and phone Miles Wood immediately on 082 857 2917 or email ameliamileswood@gmail.com, so that the proposed plan of action can play out. This offer closes on August 29 or sooner and no cancellations can be accepted.
If this outing is successful, another outing is foreseen to Heyes Hope dam later this year (watch this space for final details).
If you were hoping for a 3kg or more bass this year, do not hesitate to call immediately, as a new trophy has been purchased already to earmark the roving league points and the biggest bass.
Remember that a junior angler can join the club by himself and the cost is R100.00 pa. All other current members have time to pay annual subs to Paul Steffenson before August 31, before paying joining fees again. All interested parties will note that all leagues and roving leagues can be participated in by paid members only.
At the last Exco meeting, it was unanimously decided to bestow honorary membership to Wayne Bissett and Sanjay Bennie.
Hats off to these two good friends of the club for hours of hard work for the club’s Bivane Bass Challenge.
From the weighmaster comes an important notification: Firstly, no weights can be accepted by telephone, only sms or emailed weights are acceptable.
Any fish bigger than 2,5kg must be witnessed by a club member or with a photograph of the fish on a scale where the weight can be seen.
Any fish caught on league dates must be weighed within three days. Roving fish must be weighed within four weeks.
The following cell number can be used for sms: 082 329 1357. Emails can be sent to j.formo@gmail.com.
At the first league, on August 16, these rules apply, due to repairs and calibration of the club’s scales.
All fish bigger than 2kg must be weighed in the presence of the weighmaster or his representative.
Tight lines.
